Green Door Tavern

by gastronomicbypass

Location – 678 N. Orleans (Huron and Orleans)

In one word – Affordable

Food – I’ve been told that I’m straying away from affordable food. Stray no further, come to the Green Door Tavern. The fact that they have $2 mini corn dogs and fries might be reason enough (grant it, the corn dogs and fries may have been frozen in a former life, but for $2, do you really care?). You can also get 1/2 priced bar food appetizers on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Drink – They have so many drink specials, just depends on the night you come over. I have to say that GDT is the only place south of Addison and north of Roosevelt that consistently has affordable beer (including Guinness and Fat Tire on tap!). And for that reason, this place is a gem.

Service – Given that your total tab will be under $10, your server doesn’t have all that much incentive to be kind to you. However, each time I’ve gone to GDT, I have had pleasant service.

Occasion – Come after work with coworkers, to catch up with friends or to watch a game. Very casual at GDT.

Dress – You’ll see a mix of afterwork suits and jeans and tshirts here. Just fit yourself somewhere in between.

Cost – Like I said before, affordable. I typically max out at $12 at GDT.
